Which nonprofits are available?

We can send donations to any organization in our database. Don’t see your favorite? Add it! You can add it to the database by contacting us. We’ve partnered with Google to transmit donations quickly and securely, and can reach all of the 1.1 million non-profit organizations that are registered as 501(c)(3)s.


I tried to add my favorite, but I don’t see it posted yet.

We post new charities to our database weekly right now. If it’s been a week and you still don’t see yours, drop us a line. We are intentional about vetting charities - some charities don’t do the work they say they do, and some have been in the news for not giving as reported. We make sure the charities in our database have excellent records before making them live for giving.


What types of payment methods does Buoy Up support?

Currently, we accept credit cards and bank accounts. It takes only a few clicks to connect either type of account through our secure signup process here, and you only have to link to it one time. Bank accounts have much lower processing fees – only 0.8% – so we’re big fans. Credit cards incur higher processing fees – a 2.9% processing fee plus 30 cents every time it’s charged. You can opt to cover the cost of credit card processing fees when you connect your account.


Are my donations tax deductible?

Yes, your donations are tax deductible. Before tax season, you'll get a notice from us summarizing all your tax deductible giving.


How do I know when I will be charged for my donations?

We send you a weekly email to review your activity before your account is charged. You can also check out your account page to see your activity any time.

How secure is Buoy Up?

Your banking information is secured by Stripe, an industry leader for security. Our site is also protected by industry-standard best practices.


What are Buoy Up’s fees?

We take a 6% fee for Buoy Up to support our technology and organization. This is in addition to any payment processing fees.
